Одним із найбільш досліджуваних аспектів розвитку суспільства є концепція етичного споживання, що визначає потреби та пріоритети споживачів на ринку товарів та послуг. Систематизація існуючого наукового доробку з даного питання засвідчила відсутність комплексного розуміння концепції етичного споживання у існуючій західній літературі. У даному міжкультурному та міждисциплінарному дослідженні концепція етичного споживання розглядається в трьох аспектах: 1) у статті аналізується природа концепції етичного споживання та визначається місце натуралістичної концепції в даному процесі; 2) на основі емпіричних досліджень проведених за допомогою дискусій у фокус-групах та індивідуальних інтерв’ю зі споживачами на територіях міської та сільської місцевості Китаю в статті обґрунтовується поняття «етичне споживання» в рамках етики доброчесності, теоретично пов’язуючи його з конфуціанською теорією; 3) стаття визначає основні напрямки розуміння респондентами теорії етичного споживання і обґрунтовує характер впливу пріоритетів споживачів на дану концепцію з міжкультурної точки зору. Авторами досліджено поняття доброчесності патріотизму та поваги до батьків як передумову до розвитку концепції етичного споживання. Визначено роль даних чеснот у китайській концепції розуміння етичного споживання. Наявність суттєвих географічних обмежень та незначної кількості учасників дослідження не дозволили обґрунтувати авторську точку зору щодо розуміння китайськими споживачами принципів етичного споживання. В той же час, отримані результати суттєво збагачують дискурс ділової етики в напрямку етичного споживання, оскільки базуються на повсякденній практиці та аналізі мотивів та пріоритетів споживачів на території міської та сільської місцевості Китаю.
