Дана стаття узагальнює аргументи та контраргументи в межах наукової дискусії з питання взаємозв’язку обсягів прямих іноземних інвестицій з показниками економічного зростання в контексті врахування впливу фінансової кризи. Метою дослідження є визначення взаємозв’язку прямих іноземних інвестицій з такими факторами, як темпи зростання, процентна ставка, обмінний курс, рівень інфляції, фіскальний дефіцит для Індії, період дослідження триває з 1971 по 2015 рік. Методичне забезпечення статті включає метод аналізу причинно-наслідкових зв’язків, коінтеграційний метод Йогансена та векторну модель корекції похибок. В статті наголошується, що обсяги прямих іноземних інвестицій змінювались під час фінансових криз у різних країнах світу з 1970-х років. За результатами емпіричного аналізу автор прийшов до висновку, що приплив прямих іноземних інвестицій в Індію знижувався на 21,56% на рік протягом 1971-2015 рр., а експоненціально на рівні 0,6044% на рік. В роботі констатовано, що приплив прямих іноземних інвестицій в Індії має причинно-наслідкові зв’язки, з одного боку, з фіскальним дефіцитом та, з іншого, – з інфляцією, обмінним курсом, процентними ставками та темпами зростання протягом 1971-2015 років. В статті проведено коінтеграційний тест Йогансена, який підтвердив, що «статистика сліду» (trace statistic) містить чотири інтегрованих рівняння, «статистика максимального власного числа» (еigen statistic) має три інтегровані рівняння. У дослідженні постулюється, що векторна модель з корекцією похибок (VECM) є стабільною, нестаціонарною та не може бути застосована для чотирьох розрахункових рівнянь, виправлення помилок для рівнянь зміни процентної ставки та рівня інфляції. Автор підсумовує, що обсяги прямих іноземних інвестицій не призводять до фінансових криз Грейнджера, але фінансові кризи викликають ефект Грейнджера на прямі іноземні інвестиції. Дослідження емпірично підтверджує та теоретично доводить, що зв’язок між зростанням та прямими іноземними інвестиціями є невизначеним, оскільки відрізняється залежно від регіону, країни, періодичності проведення, незважаючи на те, що процеси глобалізації, лібералізації та приватизації прискорюють швидкість взаємозв’язку в позитивному напрямку незалежно від розподілу доходу.
