Повільні темпи зростання та дефіцит повноцінного фінансового забезпечення сформували передумови до вивчення взаємозв’язку між надходженнями іноземних інвестицій та економічним зростанням країни. В попередніх дослідженнях з даної тематики ключові акценти з даної проблематики формувались в розрізі короткострокової перспективи та в умовах статичного функціонування економіки. Метою даної статті є вивчення динамічного характеру розвитку взаємозв’язків між іноземними інвестиціями та економічним зростанням в Нігерії з 1980 по 2018 роки. Використання тесту Augmented-Dickey Fuller дозволило підтвердити визначну роль іноземних портфельних інвестицій (серед інших аналізованих факторів – внутрішніх заощаджень, державних капітальних витрат, ринкової капіталізації) при формуванні валового внутрішнього продукту. Використання методу вибору лагу дозволило визначити оптимальний лаг для оцінки авторегресивної розподіленої моделі, за допомогою якої обгрунтовано значний позитивний вплив портфельних іноземних інвестицій на валовий внутрішній продукт в поточному періоді та негативні ефекти таких інвестицій як на першому, так і на другому році лагу. Інформаційною базою дослідження виступив статистичний бюлетень Центрального банку Нігерії. Результати емпіричних розрахунків в короткостроковій перспективі засвідчили, що внутрішні заощадження мають значний негативний вплив на валовий внутрішній продукт. Дослідження емпірично підтверджує та теоретично доводить, що іноземні інвестиції, внутрішні заощадження, державні витрати та ринкова капіталізація визначають довгострокові тенденції формування валового внутрішнього продукту в Нігерії. Практичні розрахунки засвідчили, що наявність значного дефіциту внутрішніх заощаджень в Нігерії формує перешкоди для успішного економічного зростання в країні як у короткостроковій, так і в довгостроковій перспективі; портфельні іноземні інвестиції прискорюють економічне зростання в довгостроковій перспективі в більшій мірі, ніж у короткостроковому періоді.
